Architecture / production

The seventh-generation 3 Series retained the longitudinal-engine, rear-wheel-drive-based architecture with xDrive available on multiple variants.

G28:

• China-specific long-wheelbase body;
• wheelbase: 2,961 mm;
• approximately 110 mm longer than G20;
• body length: 4,829 mm;
• produced by BMW Brilliance Automotive in Tiexi, Shenyang.

G28 is a body/market family, not a trim of G20.

Regional SAE ratings, especially North America, remain separate from European hp/PS-labelled rows.

Diesel ladder

M340d xDrive uses 48V mild-hybrid technology in the current official generation.
