F45 marked a fundamental packaging change for the BMW brand: a compact BMW with front-wheel drive architecture. F46 expanded the same concept with a longer body and optional third seating row.

Battery/source evolution:

• early battery gross capacity: 7.7 kWh in BMW regional technical material;
• 2018 LCI official electric range: up to 45 km;
• 2019 updated battery raises electric range to about 57 km while power remains 224 hp / 385 Nm.
