Standalone BMW Group brand

BMW Group officially launched BMW ALPINA on 1 January 2026 as a standalone exclusive brand under the BMW Group umbrella.

This marks a legal/brand/organizational boundary from the previous ALPINA automobile programme.

Taxonomy boundary

Through end of 2025

Historical ALPINA / BMW ALPINA automobiles:

• developed and manufactured under the previous ALPINA business/manufacturer framework;
• catalogued in the historical ALPINA encyclopedia stages.

From 1 January 2026

BMW ALPINA:

• standalone BMW Group brand;
• new brand emblem;
• future products positioned above/alongside BMW luxury products with ALPINA-specific engineering, craftsmanship and performance character.

The commercial/brand continuity does not justify rewriting earlier ALPINA cars as having always been a BMW Group standalone brand.

2026 transition products

BMW ALPINA XB7 MANUFAKTUR

North America:

• final/closing chapter of XB7 production;
• 120 vehicles total for USA and Canada;
• production/assembly phase from September 2026;
• customer deliveries from Q4 2026;
• 631 hp in BMW North America source;
• limited MANUFAKTUR specification.

This model sits at the transition boundary:

• it carries BMW ALPINA branding;
• it closes the existing XB7 chapter;
• it is not treated as the first wholly new standalone-brand model architecture.

Vision BMW ALPINA — 2026

BMW unveiled Vision BMW ALPINA at Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in May 2026.

Classification:

• one-off design study;
• V8;
• not series production;
• previews the character/design language of future BMW ALPINA products.

BMW's official communication points to the first true new customer model of the standalone BMW ALPINA era in 2027, inspired by the BMW 7 Series luxury segment.
